A full 80% of my work is done on location. I truly feel at home in the great outdoors. It presents innumerable challenges, like the wind, rain, cold, and too much sun and then the bugs, birds, and overly curious onlookers. But you are surrounded by inspiration. It's everywhere! The main problem is selectivity.

My goal is not to just record a scene, but to express the unutterable feelings that the place evokes. At the end of the day, I want to carry away a painting that will virtually bring a sense of that place to many others to appreciate and treasure. This is the good that is multiplied by the intelligent act of painting. My desire is that my art will heighten others' awareness of the rich visual environment that is ever-present and ours to enjoy.
